Visit the Highlands of Scotland for Holidays in the Scottish Highlands
Gairloch
When you drive into Gairloch from the north, from Ullapool or Inverness you will see some of the best scenery in Scotland. After leaving Poolewe you will have a short journey to Gairloch and then you arrive. As you come to the cattle grid at just before Gairloch it is worth parking carefully and taking in the view over the Gairloch community. The houses are fairly well spread out, with crofts, hotels, caravan and camping sites nearby.
North West Highlands
Poolewe is a small community on the sea loch - Loch Ewe in an area called Wester Ross - you will probably have found the area by looking on a map at Ross and Cromarty, well the Ross bit is on the west of Scotland and the Cromarty is mostly on the east coast of the north of Scotland to the north and west of Inverness. The west coast of Scotland, especially the area of the north has spectacular scenery with many mountains known as Munros, that is over 3,000 feet.
The area around Wester Ross & Poolewe has so much to offer.
